Each
year, SunFest brings to Bartlesville a fabulous mix of food,
art and entertainment for the community to enjoy. There is
a little of something for everyone at SunFest. And not to
leave out the little ones, YouthFest, has always catered to
younger children though about age 12. Within the fenced area
of YouthFest on the North end of the park, there is a buzz
of activity. The booths contained inside the YouthFest fence
are free activities hosted by local organizations. The many
activities keep the children entertained and allow parents
an opportunity to gather information about the organizations
or help their little one with a craft or game.
A
family favorite in YouthFest has always been the face painting
and tattoos. The booth that helps the children make a handmade
kite is always a hit as you see the children actually flying
their kites in the open field. Each year, children come into
the YouthFest area and look for these activities as they have
become a yearly tradition. Other activities include helium
balloons and various games where prizes and candy can be won.
The duck pond is always an attraction to the really young
children who may be left out of the craft making booths.
The beanbag toss is usually a booth where children enjoy as
well as bowling and the fishing game. Each year, different
booths provide a variety of different activities.
New
this year is a multicultural focus where children can move
through various booths and experience a variety of cultures
as they do a craft and win prizes. Another new activity is
a booth where musical instruments can be made. And no year
can be complete without hula-hoops, ring toss and bubbles.
YouthFest
is a family friendly area where everyone is welcome and we
look forward to the smiles on each child’s face as they experience
what YouthFest 2011 has to offer.
